On-chip Photonic Meta-Structure and Meta-Device Architecting with  2D material liquid crystal  technology:    

This research area is focused on the development, characterisation and investigation of device applications of a novel class of materials combining 2D materials and liquid crystal technologies. The scope ranges from the synthesis of new materials, through the investigation of their fundamental properties, to their first integration and operation in novel device architectures. To facilitate the goals of this research area, new synthetic routes will be developed and optimised, novel characterisation techniques established and innovative device functionalities realised to fully harness the potential of this exciting new class of materials.
